This Privacy Policy covers Sumitomo Rubber Australia Pty Ltd and our licensees, related bodies corporate and “City Discount Tyres” and “Ian Diffen City Discount Tyres” outlets, owned by our franchisees (outlets) (weus, our). We recognise the importance of protecting your privacy. We are bound by, and committed to complying with, our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This Privacy Policy covers the way we handle the personal information of individual retail customers of our outlets, individuals working as or for our business associates, applicants for employment, and other individuals whose personal information we collect. It explains how we handle your personal information and how you can contact us if you want to access or correct any personal information that we hold about you, or if you want to raise an issue about your privacy.

Personal information is information about you, or which identifies you, like your name, contact details, and our records about you. It may include sensitive information about you, such as your health information.

We collect personal information from our retail customers, employees and franchisees (including prospective employees and franchisees), contractors, service providers and other individuals. We only collect personal information by lawful and fair means.  We will collect your personal information in different ways through our interactions with you, such as:

  • in person, when you visit one of our premises or otherwise meet with us in person
  • where we communicate by telephone, mail, or email
  • when you submit a form or provide documents or information when accessing our services, including when you use our websites
  • if you are one of our business contacts
  • when you participate in a survey or competition
  • when you apply for a job or placement with us.

In some cases, where it is unreasonable or impracticable to obtain your personal information directly from you, we will seek to obtain it from others, such as from your representatives (e.g. solicitor, accountant), from publicly available sources, and from government agencies. We may also collect personal information in connection with our franchisee placement, employment and recruitment functions from third party recruitment agencies, from third parties you have authorised to deal with us on your behalf, from referees you have given us authority to contact, from police or background checks, and from our workers and contractors.

  • for retail customers of our outlets: your name and contact details, and information about you

  • for recipients of our trade credit services (or their guarantors): information about your payment performance, as well as personal information about you from publicly available sources, or in some cases, from credit reporting agencies that we deal with
  • for franchisee placement, recruitment and employment purposes: your name, contact details, resume, identification documents, and other information reasonably necessary to evaluate your application.

If you would like to access, or request correction of, the information that we hold about you, you can contact us on the details provided below.  If we refuse access, we will provide you with a written notice explaining our reasons for refusing access. We may ask you to pay our reasonable costs of providing you with access to the personal information that we hold about you.

We seek to ensure that the personal information that we hold is accurate, up-to-date and complete.  We encourage you to contact us on the details provided below to seek correction of the personal information we hold about you if you believe that it is inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.  We are not obliged to correct any of your personal information if we do not agree that it requires correction and we may refuse to do so. If we refuse, we will provide you with a written notice explaining the basis for our refusal.

We may use the personal information that we hold about you, including your contact details, to provide you with information about products and services that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving all or certain types of marketing information from us at any time by contacting us on the details provided below.
